Not all of us want to be mothers. Five women, six abortions, and forty years of activism. Carla, Anahí, Viviana, Araceli, and Julia had abortions. Some had to do it clandestinely, others under the ILE (Legal Interruption of Pregnancy) protocol. Each had different reasons; Viviana even decided to become a mother years later. Each of them narrates their story from the moment they discovered their unwanted pregnancy to the moment they concluded it. Accompanying their stories, Celeste, a doctor and ESI (Integrated Sexual Education) teacher, guides us through the medical and legal aspects of Safe Abortion, while Mabel, an Argentine feminist leader, shares a lifetime of activism. An intimate and personal look at the right to have control over our bodies, a hug, a friendly voice telling us we are no longer alone. ILEgal is an emotional and courageous narrative that shows that abortion is not a matter of class or time but of decision.
