At 22, Ismael dreams of traveling to the United States. After his parents emigrate from Ecuador, he grows up under the care of his grandmother, Mariana. Having agreed on a price with a coyote for his journey, his best friend, Luz, returns after eight years away, becoming a source of inner turmoil that fills Ismael with doubt. The two friends travel deep into the Azuay province, encountering diverse characters, stories, and legends that will confront Ismael with his greatest fear: his destiny.
